YM- Audience Research

We pitched to a sample size of 15 people, both male and female (though predominantly males) of our age range as this was our target audience and would therefore give us more accurate feedback.

The purpose of undertaking the research was to gain an idea as to what our target audience thought of our storyline and other aspects we had come up with (such as mise-en-scene, sound, lighting etc). This feedback will help us develop our concept to appeal more to our target audience.

We pitched individually to those who took the questionnaire so there wasn't a set location where we gathered our respondees and asked them all to it at the same time.

To carry out the research, we presented our pitch which we had prepared for our school pitch and pitched it to our respondees so they had a full idea about our concept to get a wider vision of what the final outcome would be and how they would respond to it.

  1. I found that the audience research was tremendously helpful as it highlighted things which our target audience thought wouldn't work even though we thought it would. This is good as it means we can cater more towards what our target audience wants. We now have a clearer idea about the finer details for our opening sequence by knowing how to ensure it is conventional and appealing to our target audience.
