Group task - Preliminary task

Our Preliminary task.

This is our preliminary task we did. We did this to practice shots we are thinking of using in our opening sequence and to play around with the cameras and get a feel for how they work.
Our brief was to demonstrate effective use of:
- continuity editing
- film at least two lines of dialogue
- show a door opening and closing.
We had to take into consideration the 180 degree rule for the filming of the conversation.

  1. I think the preliminary task was an extremely helpful thing to do as it highlighted several problems we might encounter during the filming of our own opening sequence. Firstly, we certainly underestimated the amount of footage we need to film to get enough to edit a continuous sequence. When we film, we will need to make sure we shoot everything several times to ensure we have enough footage to work with.
Also, timing was an issue for us. We didn't realise how long it takes to set up a shot and shoot, and we certainly found we were tight for time in getting the footage and editing it into a flowing sequence. From this, I think we need to give ourselves plenty of time when filming, most likely the full day so we have the time to complete what we need to do.
