What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
An independent distribution company is the most likely company to distribute our media product. This is because it is a low budget film and therefore won't have all the features to compete against the Hollywood thriller movies. Our product wouldn't have the famous stars in to entice people in to watch the films, nor would it have big stunts or expensive costumes and props to make the film seem better.
An independant distribution company we could use is Optimum Releasing
Many thriller movies are distributed by industrial distribution companies because of their ultra high budget, and famous stars. These companies are very unlikely to distribute our films as these companies tend to exhibit their films in the multiplex cinemas which appeal to the four quadrants. As the target audience for our film is the core audience, leaning slightly towards the males of this range, it doesn't appeal to the four quadrants. These industrial companies also focus on distributing the high budget films and tentpole films that can afford many extra effects that lower budget films cannot. It is because of these reasons that the conglomerate companies will not distribute our film.
